Trial & Billing
Free trial
Every new account starts with a 30-day free trial. No credit card is required. The trial starts once you have verified your email address, and each email address gets one trial. Members invited to someone else's organization do not get a trial of their own.
| Included | Amount |
|---|---|
| Storage | 1 TB (1,000 GB) |
| Egress bandwidth | 2 TB (2,000 GB) |
| API operations | Unlimited |
| Duration | 30 days from when the trial starts |
The trial gives you enough capacity to test real workloads, not just sample uploads. Almost everything works during the trial; the two exceptions are generating shareable links for objects and viewing invoice history, both of which unlock on a paid plan.
The storage and egress figures above are hard limits, not soft allowances, and reaching them has different consequences:
- Storage reaching 1 TB puts the account into a write-locked state — you can still read and download, but new uploads are rejected.
- Egress reaching 2 TB disables the account — the same state as an account whose grace period has ended, with no read or write access until you upgrade. There is no read-only grace period first.
Trial egress is a single cumulative budget across the whole 30 days, not a monthly amount that resets. Enforcement runs on a twice-daily usage job (around 07:00 and 19:00 UTC), so a cap may be exceeded for a few hours before access changes.
What happens when the trial ends
| Phase | Days | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Active trial | 0-30 | Full access. Upload, download, manage data. |
| Grace period | 31-37 | Read-only. Download your data and upgrade to a paid plan. No new uploads. |
| Expired | 38+ | Account disabled. No access to data, uploads, or API keys. |
You will receive email reminders at:
- Day 15 -- Halfway through your trial, with an upgrade link.
- Day 25 -- 5 days left, with an upgrade link.
- Day 31 -- Trial ended, grace period started.
- Day 36 -- Grace period ends in 48 hours.
- Day 38 -- Account disabled.
You can upgrade to a paid plan at any time during the trial or grace period. Upgrading restores full access immediately.
Disabling blocks all access to the account: your data is no longer reachable through the API or the dashboard, and access keys stop working. Fil One does not run an automatic purge at this point, so contact support if you need access restored or your data removed.
Paid plan pricing
| Component | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Storage | $5.99 / TB / month | Billed on average daily usage, minimum $5.99 / month. |
| Egress bandwidth | No charge | No egress fees. |
| API operations | Included | No per-request charges. |
Pricing is usage-based, measured as the average storage consumed across the billing period, with a $5.99 / month minimum. If your usage works out to less than $5.99 in a billing period, you are billed the $5.99 minimum. Organizations that subscribed before the move to $5.99 keep their earlier terms; see Pricing. Pay as you go has no contract or term commitment. For volume pricing on 1, 3, or 5-year terms, the Business plan is arranged with the sales team. See Billing.
Payment
Payments are processed through Stripe. An organization Owner adds a credit card from Billing in the dashboard, opened from Billing in the organization menu at the top of the left sidebar. See Billing.
- Invoices are generated monthly.
- Usage details are visible on the Billing page to Owners and Admins.
- Payment is due on receipt of invoice.
Payment failures
If a payment fails, your account enters past due status and Stripe automatically retries the charge. The dashboard becomes read-only from the moment the payment fails, and the Billing page shows Your last payment failed with an Update payment button.
If all retries are exhausted and the subscription is canceled by Stripe, your account transitions to the paid grace period (see below).
Don't rely on an email to tell you a payment has failed. If uploads stop working, open Billing in the dashboard: a Your last payment failed banner means the card needs updating, and an Owner can fix it with Update payment. See Billing.
Cancellation
You can cancel your paid plan from the Stripe billing portal, which you open from Billing in the dashboard. When cancellation takes effect depends on the option you choose there: if you cancel at the end of the current billing period, your plan stays active and billable until that period ends. The 30-day grace period begins only once Stripe actually cancels the subscription — not the moment you click cancel:
| Phase | Duration | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Grace period | 30 days | Read-only. Download your data or reactivate your plan. No new uploads. |
| Expired | After grace period | Account disabled. No access to data, uploads, or API keys. |
Reactivating your plan during the grace period restores full access immediately. Once the account is disabled, contact support to restore access or to request removal of your data.
